Why blog?
Updated: Mar 28, 2018
Over the years, I've blogged at various events for ice-dance.com, but I've never started a personal blog. (Unless you count when I created a Live Journal account to recap early series episodes of America's Next Top Model.) You might ask, why now?

When I was relaunching my personal website, I decided to revisit the personal blogging idea.
In the past, I've considered starting a blog at least a dozen times, but I've been caught up in the little details, which kept me from getting it off the ground. Photography and web design are two of my passions and I have always wanted to share what I have learned along the way. With that in mind, I decided to push forward with my blog and so far, so good.
This past December, I created a presentation for the brown bag series at my workplace. The brown bag series is lunchtime learning opportunity held several times each month. The topics vary with some connected to our work or showcasing hobbies and personal experiences. While I would have been happy with 10 people in the room, there were 30 co-workers in attendance and the feedback I received was positive and constructive. I'm already planning a follow-up to 'Blogging 101'.
I'm a firm believer that we all have a voice and a different perspective that is worth sharing. If you are thinking of starting a blog, but are getting stuck in the weeds, get out the gardening shears and cut them down. Once you start, you can spend less time procrastinating and more time delving into the creative process, which is infinitely more enjoyable.
Until next time,
Daphne
